The Great Pacific Crossing From Mexico to the Marquesas Islands – planned for early March 2028 _ _ A rare, intense, unrepeatable experience. Setting off on an ocean crossing is something that goes beyond sailing. It’s a leap into the unknown, an act of trust. It’s reconnecting with the rhythm of the wind, the night, and your inner world.
The current plan has Ikigai leaving the coast of Mexico in early March 2028 to cross the Pacific Ocean, after a chapter sailing north from Panama through the Panama Canal and Baja California. A multi-week ocean passage, through one of the most remote and pristine areas on the planet.
Planned ocean route
Our departure target is early March 2028 from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle / Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, heading toward the Marquesas. The Galápagos are not part of the route currently planned. The date, course and any stops will depend on boat readiness, weather and formalities.
The heart of the crossing is the open-ocean passage to the Marquesas Islands, in the heart of French Polynesia: weeks of non-stop sailing, where the ocean becomes home, horizon, and teacher.
This is not a vacation. It’s a life experience. Those who join this crossing will be part of the crew. They will share shifts, maneuvers, cooking, navigation, silences, and sunrises. And they’ll be part of something rare: a community sailing into the unknown with open hearts.
You don’t need advanced sailing skills, just adaptability, the ability to listen, and a willingness to be transformed.
